The Veterinary Clinic That Put My Pet Supply Business on a Real Invoice

By Sandra Liu, Pet Supplies Business Owner — Raleigh, NC

I started Pawprint Supply Co. in 2020 as an online store selling specialty and natural pet supplies — grain-free treats, organic supplements, handmade leashes and collars, slow-feeder bowls. I curated small-brand products that weren’t available at large pet chains and sold direct-to-consumer through Shopify and Etsy.

By 2021, I was doing about $5,800/month. Then two veterinary clinics reached out.

The first was a holistic vet practice in the Research Triangle. They wanted to carry my line of canine supplements — a private-label product I was producing through a small manufacturer. They asked about wholesale pricing and wanted to order 48 units per SKU monthly.

I had no wholesale pricing structure. I had no purchase order system. I had no invoice template that looked professional enough for a medical practice’s accounts payable.

I built all three in InvoiceFlow over a weekend.

The Wholesale Pet Supplies Invoice

The “minimum order per SKU category” line helped me avoid situations where a practice orders 6 units of a 48-unit minimum SKU and I have to explain the minimums after the fact.

Monthly Subscription Boxes (Consumer)

Bandanas, toys, treats at wholesale — with the boutique's PO their buyer expects.

My subscription box — a monthly curated selection of natural pet products — was where I first used InvoiceFlow’s recurring invoice feature.

Monthly Pet Box Subscription — [Subscriber Name] — [Month Year]:

52 active subscribers at an average of $38/month = $1,976/month before I open the store.

Corporate Pet Gifting (Offices with Pet-Friendly Policies)

Boutique wholesale, a vet clinic's practice reference, a custom bed on deposit — every buyer type covered.

Several Raleigh tech companies with pet-friendly offices started ordering gift sets for employee pets. Holiday gift boxes, new employee welcome pets, work anniversary gift sets.

Pet Training and Service Provider Wholesale Accounts

Dog trainers, groomers, and doggy daycare facilities are natural wholesale customers for premium leashes, collars, training aids, and treats.

Wholesale Account — [Service Provider Name] — [Date]:

Service provider accounts get shorter payment terms than veterinary practices because they’re smaller operations — net-15 manages my receivables better.

The Business Four Years In

Current revenue breakdown:

Before wholesale: $5,800/month. After: $17,276/month. The veterinary clinic accounts represent the most reliable revenue — they order on a predictable monthly cycle and pay on time.

What InvoiceFlow Does for Pet Supply Businesses

Pet supply billing spans wholesale accounts for veterinary practices and pet service providers, monthly subscription boxes with auto-billing, corporate pet gift orders with deposit structures, and direct consumer sales. InvoiceFlow handles all of these from one Android app — wholesale templates with minimum order notes, subscription auto-billing, deposit tracking for corporate orders, and PO fields for professional accounts.

Download InvoiceFlow. Build the wholesale template with your pricing tiers and minimum order policy. Set subscription boxes to auto-bill monthly. Add the deposit structure to corporate gift orders. The veterinary clinic that reorders monthly is more reliable than your best single-day consumer sales spike.
